  • Seams: Gently open and close seam rings by twisting them sideways, similar to how you’d open a ketchup packet, rather than pulling the ends directly apart. Pulling the ends apart can distort the shape of the ring. On YouTube and Instagram there are tutorials on how to open these properly. These are best suited for piercings where they won’t be removed often.

  • You can use an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner to remove debris by placing your jewelry in for about 5 minutes. Be sure to read the manufacturer’s instructions first, as some gemstones (like pearls or mercury mist topaz) are not suitable for ultrasonic cleaning.     Another effective method for healed piercings to clean soap scum, dead skin, and makeup products off jewelry is using a baby toothbrush dipped in isopropyl alcohol (only use this, nothing else) to gently scrub the jewelry in circular motions on all sides. This helps loosen debris. Rinse with water afterward.
